Looking back...

As I have been doing the laundry the last few days I have been laying aside some of the kids’ “better” things in order to pack them for our upcoming vacation.
As I put aside a shirt for Kahne last night, I realized we have quite a few pictures of Kamden in that exact shirt the last time we were home visiting.
It really put it into prospective of just how long it’s been since we have been there to visit. I also decided I better not take that shirt….the boys favor too much and in 15 years, I just might have a hard time figuring out who was where when….

Below are a couple pictures of Kamden the last time we were there. He is wearing the shirt I was going to pack ….wow are they all in for a surprise!! He has grown so much.

This also helps to ease my anxiety and let the excitement set in….its a long overdue trip and I know once there we will have so much fun.
We just have to remember to FROG and keep our eyes on the road!
Talk to ya’ll once we get back!!

Countdown....

Well the countdown is on and I have about 0 ounces of excitement in me….I mean really how can you get excited about traveling in a car 17+ hours with two little ones….Don’t get me wrong once we are there, or even within 2 hours of there, I will be overflowing with excitement.
When we traveled home so much before, just the two of us, me and Jason, it wasn’t such a big deal. We only had to worry about taking care of ourselves. No little ones to worry about. Now that we have the boys to add to the mix it makes everything a little more uneasy.
I have been trying to prepare “things to entertain”. I am borrowing a portable DVD player from a friend….but my boys aren’t really movie watchers so that will only work for a short time. I have also started a small tote bag of car things. I have some color pencils (don’t want crayons melting), drawing pads, a view master with some views, a few books, Kamden’s portable CD player with CD’s. Any other suggestions? What works well to entertain while sitting in a car for forever?!?
Leaving you with that to ponder…after all Big Brother is starting!!

Don't diet with me...

Okay so this dieting thing (side note: I am always dieting)....it doesn't work so well for me.
This is typically how it goes.
I get this bright idea that I am going to not eat any more junk...so we must eat up all the junk in the house, cause once its gone we won't have it sitting there tormenting me to no end. SO eat it...as much as you can, as fast as you can. When its gone you can start fresh....eat only healthy things. BUT THEN the grocery store has all good sales on really bad food, I mean how can you pass up 77 cent Pringles and ice cream gallons...yes gallons for only 2.99...we better take at least 2 of those......so I think well just those things, then I will get started fresh next week....and then next week.....they have a new candy bar, I just have to try.......you see where this goes and then the cycle continues....

Its not even about being small, thats a added bonus, but seriously thats not high on my list of priorities....its the health thing. And making sure my kids are healthy and eat healthy and have good eating habits. I just have to have more will power. We do have our vegetables, we do have sit down meals every night, we go nightly on walks or bike rides.....its the treats, the rewards that we have to get better at. Its limiting or eliminating the temptations.
I know what does it...its what I put in my mouth....maybe instead of stapling peoples stomach, they should try stapling our mouth!! Now that would be interesting.

Our Day Out with Thomas

We went to Stillwater MN to spend the day with Thomas and friends. Kamden loves Thomas so he had so much fun. He would have stayed at the wooden tracks and played with the train and track set all day if we would have allowed it. Here only a few of the tons of photos we took.

Kahne really wanted to take off Sir Topham Hatts nose!!
Kamden the conductor.

They spotted some boats out on the water.

Notice Kahne's interest in the nose.

If I put my face real close will the bubble hit me in the face?

Wow, what a day.....

Things I won’t let my child do at your house!

1.) Put playdoh in the carpet, in his hair, and on your furniture. (Thank goodness my son knows that we can only get playdoh out together and play)
2.) Pour 3 containers of fish food into the fish tank. (The fish were over a year old, now they are bloated still not sure they will live through it)
3.) Ride a battery operated vehicle over you flowers repeatedly. (I have had flowers for years, and Kamden knows flowers are to smell and to water, never to pull and to run over)
4.) Ride a big wheel through the door into your kitchen. (Outdoor toys are just that, Outdoor toys!!)
5.) Litter all over the yard. (We know if we have an icee, the wrapper is to make it into the trash!)
6.) Frantically throw all the books off the shelf just to do it. (Books are to look at and to read and we will respect that and treat them as books)
7.) Use your yard as a restroom. (I teach my child where the restroom is, there are exceptions if in the woods, but not just at the house; this might differ if we lived in the country)
8.) Get in your fridge and help himself to what he thinks he needs. (My children will not even get in their own fridge without asking)
9.) Rip your puzzle boxes while throwing the pieces of multiple puzzles all over the place. (Again this is something my son knows we do together, and the fact that they are in the top of his closet makes them impossible for him to reach)
10.)Climb on your child’s dresser, getting knickknacks’ that are for decoration purposes. (That’s just not nice!)

My child has his moments….don’t get me wrong! His endless crying is sometimes enough to drive me insane….but all in all you can definitely tell he has discipline.
It’s a uphill battle, discipline that is. Its not easy, its not always fun and it’s a ton of work. But its so worth it, so so worth it. I thank God for well behaved kids. The things above make me realize that our hard work is paying off…….our endless timeouts, our occasional spankings, and our constant consistently…..I won’t let my child do those things at your house, and my child wouldn’t do those things either….he knows better!!

A picture of my poor flowers....I just might be able to water them back to health.
